I think that there are many ways these tools can be utilised.Task 1: Edit 6 photos using Pizap software If so, I think they would definitely be worth using in the classroom, for example by using comic strips or puppet shows to represent historical events or to document a school trip the children have been on. I think some of the iPad apps would be brilliant for use in schools but whether children would get to try them would really depend on whether or not the school in question has a store of iPads for school use.

As I do not yet have a cable to connect my iPad to my PC I cannot put up any of my own examples, however, this link shows one that I have found on YouTube to demonstrate how it works. Not only can you put yourself into the show but it is also possible to record voices for the characters so you can write a plot and work through a story. PuppetPals can be used to, effectively, put on your own puppet show using a variety of characters and backgrounds. The other app is called PuppetPals and is equally enjoyable. You can even use your own pictures to put in the boxes, meaning that you can make a personalised page that can really fit the theme for which you are making it.
The first is called Comic Life and is another tool with which you can make your own comic strips.

Overall though I think the resource we made works well with the topic we chose.įinally, I discovered some great apps to download on my iPad. In the end we decided to put the comic strip on a page of the Smart Notebook software so that the children could interact with the image and highlight any words that they did not understand. Also, we found that there was very little we could do with the text which was a shame as we wanted to write key words in bold which we could then put into a glossary. On the other hand, it might be better to use a different program if the pictures do not fit the theme you are aiming for rather than ‘making do’ with what Pixton has to offer. If the pictures you particularly want are offered I think this could be a brilliant tool and that some really good resources could be made. The decision to do this topic mainly came about due to the limited number of backgrounds, characters and props available. After discussing many different ideas for various subjects such as solids, liquids and gases in science or maybe something for Religious Education, we settled on making a resource for a geography lesson by looking at the Hydrological Cycle.
Watch this space!Īfter experimenting with a few things, Jemma, Hannah and I decided to make a comic strip on a website called Pixton. As I was merely experimenting I did not save my attempt and so have nothing to show for it, however, it was rather fun so I will be going back to the program to try something new. To start with I experimented with a website called Psykopaint with which you can choose a picture (either from the system or by uploading your own) and then paint over it in the style of a number of great artists, such as Monet and Van Gogh. We were put into groups of three, once again using Triptico (a tool I have spoken more about in a previous blog) and asked to choose a particular program and think about how we may use this in school.
This weeks ICT lesson built on the animation and image programs that were introduced in the previous week.
